The rebranding of the remnants of the European Chrysler brand (ex Rootes group and Simca) as Talbot by Peugeot-Citroën didn´t seem to make much sense at the time and so it proved, although there were some notable rally successes. The Talbot Samba was ta rebadged Peugeot 104, positioned between the Peugeot and its basic Citroën LN cousin.
The Samba was also available as a chic convertible by Pinifarina, here available for sale in Batalha, 120kms/90 minutes north of Lisbon airport. The convertible was fitted with a 1360cc engine, so is quicker and better equipped than the basic Samba. There are not many left, this one is claimed to be entirely original with only 73000 kms. At 3200€ it isn´t expensive, an interesting little runaround for a beach home.
